Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment used for most, if not all, mental health conditions.

Treatment begins with assessment, which involves the therapist and the client exploring together the causes and the maintaining factors of the mental health condition. Assessment usually only takes one session, but may take more depending on how complex the presenting problems are.

Treatment is based on skills building. Once the thinking and behavioural causes and maintaining factors are discovered, then the therapist and client will work together on building on the skills the client already has. Sessions are weekly, and skills tasks for weekly practice are discussed and agreed on together.
